Futurity
Nomination form GENERAL PROVISIONS The Kansas Arabian Horse Society, Inc. Futurity shall be a progressive halter program for Yearlings, 2 yr. olds, and 3 yr. old Arabians, Half-Arabians, and Anglo-Arabians. Futurity classes shall be held each year at the KAHS Sunflower Horse Show. All classes will be judged by a qualified Arabian judge in accordance with the Arabian and Half-Arabian Division of the US Equestrian Federation. All nomination/renomination fees must be paid to the Secretary of the Futurity Committee. The Kansas Arabian Horse Society Inc. will neither be responsible for nor attempt to adjudicate any dispute from changes of ownership/lease of any horse. NOMINATIONS Nominations shall be entered as follows: 1) Nominations on an official KAHS Futurity form must be made on the dam of the foal by December 31st of the year prior to birth. Date of entry to be determined by the postmark upon receipt of the envelope. The initial fee of $20.00 per mare paid to the KAHS Futurity must accompany the nomination form. Any “bad” check(s) received will result in elimination and invalidation of entry!! In other words, you may not have a second chance to nominate this mare and breeding entry. You will have to wait a year, and nominate the mare upon her next breeding ! NOTE!!! If you have failed to nominate your mare(s) by the Dec. 31st deadline, you may still do so at DOUBLE the nomination fee($40 per mare) and if the mare(s) has not yet foaled. Any penalty fees collected, will be held until the 3yr. old year. 2) To be eligible for nomination, the dam of the foal must be owned or leased by a member or an associate member of the Kansas Arabian Horse Society. 3) No fees shall be refunded if the mare nominated does not produce a foal or if the nominee dies. ( No substitutes) 4) Should a nominated mare be sold/leased, the new owner/lessee may continue in the Futurity Program provided he/she is or becomes a member of the Kansas Arabian Horse Society within 30 days of the purchase/lease and notifies the Futurity Secretary of this change in writing. RENOMINATIONS 1) A renomination fee of $25.00 shall be paid by March 31st of the first year after birth(Yearling year) 2) A renomination fee of $25.00 shall be paid by March 31st of the second year after birth(2 yr. old year) 3) A renomination fee of $30.00 shall be paid by March 31st. of the third year(3 yr. old year) 4) NOTE!!!!! If renomination fees are not paid before the deadline of each year, the owner/lessee shall be assessed a PENALTY FEE of TRIPLE the original renomination fee for each entry. “Bad” checks will eliminate entry(s) from the remainder of the program and no refunds will be given!!!! All penalty fees to be distributed along with regular fees. 5) Renomination information must be submitted on an official Futurity form and include the name and registration number of the nominee; sex; name and registration number of the Dam; name and registration number of the Sire; and date foaled. A copy of the registration papers must accompany all Yearling renominations forms. 6) To be eligible for renomination or to be shown in any Futurity class(es) , a nominee must be owned by an Adult/Youth member or associate member of the Kansas Arabian Horse Society. 7) A colt upon being gelded, may be transferred to the Gelding class. Member must notify the Futurity Secretary, in writing, prior to showing. 8) If a nominee is sold/leased and eligibility has been maintained, it then becomes the responsibility of the new owner/lessee to inform the Futurity Secretary, in writing, of the change of ownership, to pay the renomination fee and to become a member of associate member of the Kansas Arabian Horse Society.(If not already a member) Said nominee shall remain an eligible entrant only if the above requirements are met within 30 days of purchase/lease. The Seller is strongly encouraged to advise the new owner/lessee of these requirements so that the nominee does not lose eligibility! SHOWING The following
Futurity classes shall be held at the annual KAHS Sunflower show: A) Yearling
Arabian Fillies B) Yearling Arabian Colts ADMINISTRATION 1) Ribbons and trophies shall be paid separately by the KAHS operating expenses(i.e. postage, printing, etc.) shall be deducted from the nomination fee. 2) Ribbons to 5th place shall be awarded in each Futurity class. 3) Trophies shall be awarded to the first place winners in each class. 4) Monies paid into the KAHS Futurity shall be allocated among the Futurity class as follows: a) Monies paid in for the nomination($20) of the Dam, in the year prior to birth of the foal, shall be held and equally divided to all remaining 3-year old nominees who show and place in the final year of eligibility. b) Monies paid in for renomination of Yearlings, Two-Year Olds, and Three-Year Olds, shall be allocated equally to the remaining Futurity classes. c) Late fees shall be distributed into their respective divisions. 5) Monies allocated to each Halter Futurity class shall be distributed among the first five places as follows: A) 1st place shall receive 40% B) 2nd place shall receive 25% C) 3rd place shall receive 15% D) 4th place shall receive 10% E) 5th place shall receive 10% 6) All ribbons and trophies shall be announced and awarded to the winners at the conclusion of judging of each class. 7) The distribution of monies shall be sent by mail to the winners within 30 days after the close of the show. If there are any problems with an owner/lessee account due to “bad” checks, the Futurity Secretary reserves the right to withhold payment until account is cleared up!!! 8) Monies not distributed because of insufficient entries in any Futurity class, shall be retained and reallocated equally among all the Futurity classes and shall be distributed in the next Futurity year. 9) No fees shall be refunded if entry is not shown! 10) This Futurity Program shall be administered by a committee appointed by the President and Board of Directors of the Kansas Arabian Horse Society. 11) Futurity funds shall be accounted for within the club treasury and subject to an annual report and/or audit. TERMINATION This Futurity Program maybe terminated by an amendment to the KAHS by-laws duly executed, provided all nomination/renomination fees paid by members eligible to participate at the time of termination are refunded. No amount shall be refunded due to alleged lose of winning.
